The 3rd India–Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) convenes in New Delhi to chart new pathways for strategic, economic, and digital cooperation
A warm and ceremonial welcome greeted Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Mr Gan Kim Yong, Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and the accompanying ministerial delegation as they arrived in New Delhi for the 3rd India–Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR). This high-powered meeting reflects the deepening engagement and strategic alignment between the two nations.

The ISMR, envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, stands as a unique and forward-looking mechanism to chart a new course for India–Singapore cooperation. Since its inception in September 2022, the platform has enabled both sides to engage in focused dialogue across a range of sectors, from trade and technology to security and connectivity.
This year’s third round brings together some of the most senior ministers from both governments. Representing India are Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs; Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs; Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry; and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology.

From the Singaporean side, participants include Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry; Mr K. Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs; Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Ms Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information; Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower; and Mr Jeffrey Siow, Acting Minister for Transport.
Held alternately in New Delhi and Singapore, the ISMR serves not just as a review mechanism, but as an incubator of new ideas. Discussions this year are expected to focus on expanding economic partnerships, enhancing digital and green economy collaboration, bolstering manpower development, and fortifying security cooperation.
The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore continues to thrive, underpinned by shared values, mutual trust, and robust institutional frameworks like the ISMR. As both nations navigate an increasingly complex global landscape, this ministerial roundtable provides a crucial space to align ambitions, unlock new synergies, and reaffirm their commitment to regional and global stability.
