RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attended the final ceremony of the Esports World Cup 2025 on Sunday. The Prince presented the championship trophy to the Saudi-owned “Team Falcons”. The team won the tournament with 5,200 points, taking home the top prize of $7 million from a record-breaking total prize pool of over $70 million.

The Crown Prince’s attendance highlights his support for the Kingdom’s National Gaming and Esports Strategy. Launched in 2022, the initiative seeks to establish a globally competitive and sustainable gaming industry. This strategy is a key part of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to contribute up to SAR 50 billion to the GDP and create 39,000 jobs by 2030.

Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, praised the Crown Prince’s backing for the event. He noted that the Kingdom has created a “unique global experience.” This combined diverse games, fierce competition, and attractive entertainment for a vast global and local audience.

The seven-week tournament featured over 2,000 professional players from 200 clubs across 100 countries. It set new records in multiple areas, including prize value and audience engagement. Over 750 million viewers followed the competitions online, with ticket sales rising by 53 per cent.
