
Singapore welcomed Chinese Premier Li Qiang on his official visit, marking 35 years of diplomatic relations and expanding collaboration in green development and the digital economy.
SINGAPORE, 25 October 2025 – Singapore hosted an official visit by Premier Li Qiang of the People’s Republic of China, marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both nations. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong led the welcome ceremony, joined by several Cabinet members including Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng.
During the visit, leaders from both countries reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between Singapore and China, built on mutual trust, shared growth, and strategic cooperation. Discussions focused on deepening collaboration in key areas such as green development, the digital economy, and trade and investment.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and China’s Ministry of Commerce signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance cooperation in green development and the digital economy. In addition, MTI’s Software Project Office and the Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee exchanged an MOU to expand third-party market collaboration. These agreements represent a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral economic ties and promoting sustainable, innovation-driven growth.

Dr Tan See Leng highlighted that the latest exchanges reflect Singapore and China’s shared commitment to future-oriented collaboration. He noted that as both countries advance into new frontiers of economic development, partnerships in green and digital sectors will continue to unlock opportunities for businesses and people on both sides.
The visit underscored the resilience and depth of Singapore–China relations, reaffirming both nations’ dedication to working closely together in shaping a sustainable and connected future.
