On 29 October 2025, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Lawrence Wong represented Singapore at a dinner hosted by Republic of Korea President Lee Jae Myung, alongside leaders from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, and Vietnam, to welcome former US President Donald J. Trump to the region. The event provided a platform for wide-ranging discussions on global developments, regional security, and collaborative opportunities.
During the dinner, Singapore reaffirmed its commitment to its security partnership with the United States. Prime Minister Wong conveyed Singapore’s appreciation for America’s long-standing support of the Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) training programmes in the United States, which have been instrumental in maintaining operational readiness and interoperability.

As a symbolic gesture of the partnership, Prime Minister Wong presented President Trump with a customised RSAF bomber jacket, identical to those worn by Singaporean pilots during training in the United States. The gift reflected Singapore’s longstanding ties and mutual respect in defence cooperation.
The discussions also allowed regional leaders to exchange perspectives on current global challenges and explore collaborative solutions, reinforcing Singapore’s engagement with international partners in addressing shared security and economic concerns.
