The ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee (ACCC) convened its first meeting of the year at the ASEAN Secretariat, bringing together representatives from ASEAN Member States to discuss regional connectivity priorities for 2026. The meeting was chaired by the Philippines, reflecting its leadership role in guiding ASEAN’s connectivity agenda.

Key discussions focused on the operationalisation of the ASEAN Connectivity Strategic Plan (ACSP), which officially commenced this year as the successor to the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025. Members also exchanged views on strengthening monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the effective implementation of initiatives under the new strategic framework.

In addition, the ACCC explored ways to enhance engagement with external partners on connectivity-related initiatives. Such cooperation was recognised as essential to supporting ASEAN’s long-term goals in infrastructure development, digital connectivity, and institutional linkages across the region.

As the coordinating body for ASEAN Connectivity, the ACCC plays a central role in monitoring and guiding the implementation of initiatives under the ACSP. This work is carried out in close collaboration with ASEAN bodies and mechanisms across all three ASEAN Community Pillars, ensuring coherence and alignment in regional efforts.

The discussions reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to strengthening regional connectivity as a key enabler of integration and sustainable development. Through the ACSP, ASEAN aims to enhance physical, digital, and people-to-people connectivity in support of ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future, reinforcing the region’s resilience and long-term prosperity.
