The meeting highlighted Indonesia’s support for youth cultural development and international artistic participation following a regional piano competition in Singapore
The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore, Thomas Ardian Siregar, received 10 Indonesian representatives who had participated in the Golden Lion Piano Competition, held in Singapore from 6 to 8 February 2026. The competition was organised by the International Musician Association Singapore (IMASG).

The young participants were accompanied by their parents during the visit, which took place in a cordial setting at the Indonesian Embassy. The meeting provided an opportunity for the students to share their experiences in taking part in an international-level classical music competition, as well as to reflect on the challenges and learning outcomes gained during the event.

According to the Embassy, the engagement formed part of ongoing efforts to encourage Indonesian youth participation in international cultural platforms. Embassy representatives expressed appreciation for the dedication and preparation demonstrated by the participants, noting the importance of sustained mentorship and early talent development in the performing arts sector.
Discussions also emphasised the value of building confidence, strengthening international networks, and expanding exposure to global standards of competition. Officials highlighted that consistent talent development, combined with institutional and parental support, remains essential in preparing young Indonesian musicians to compete and perform on international stages.
The interaction underscored the Embassy’s broader commitment to supporting Indonesian nationals abroad, including in the fields of culture and education. Observers noted that continued engagement between diplomatic missions and youth representatives contributes to strengthening people-to-people ties and enhancing Indonesia’s cultural presence internationally.
