The President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, hosted the annual President’s Diplomatic Reception (PADR) at the National Gallery Singapore. The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps and senior government officials to recognise their contributions in strengthening political, economic, and cultural partnerships with Singapore.

The PADR, established in 1985 by former President Wee Kim Wee, has become a longstanding tradition aimed at honouring representatives of foreign missions and international organisations. The reception provides a platform for heads of missions to engage with Singapore’s leadership, including the Prime Minister, Ministers, and Members of Parliament.

Among the attendees was the High Commissioner of South Africa to Singapore, H.E. Madiepetsane Charlotte Lobe, reflecting the participation of the broader diplomatic community in the event.

Held annually, the reception serves as a key occasion for dialogue and networking among the diplomatic corps. It also reflects Singapore’s continued commitment to fostering strong bilateral and multilateral relations, particularly in an evolving global environment.

The event further highlighted Singapore’s cultural identity through its gastronomy offerings, while reinforcing its role as a hub for diplomatic engagement. Participants used the occasion to exchange views on areas of mutual interest and strengthen cooperation across diverse sectors.
