Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will travel to Cebu to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit on 8 May 2026. The summit will bring together leaders from Southeast Asia to discuss important regional and global issues affecting ASEAN member states.
Hosted by the Philippines, this year’s summit carries the Chairmanship theme “Navigating Our Future, Together”. The theme reflects ASEAN’s commitment to strengthening regional integration, improving economic cooperation, and addressing global challenges through unity and collaboration.
During the summit, ASEAN leaders are expected to discuss ways to strengthen regional trade, improve energy and food security, and accelerate the region’s green energy transition. Discussions will also focus on supply chain disruptions and rising energy prices linked to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
The leaders are also expected to discuss strengthening collaboration with ASEAN’s external partners to advance shared priorities and reinforce regional stability.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Lawrence Wong is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several regional leaders.
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will be accompanied by Mrs Wong and Vivian Balakrishnan. During his absence, K Shanmugam will serve as Acting Prime Minister on 7 May, while Gan Kim Yong will serve as Acting Prime Minister from 8 to 9 May.
