Thailand and Singapore reaffirmed their strong defence partnership during discussions held alongside the biennial SINGSIAM 2026 naval exercise in Singapore.

The Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore announced that Mrs. Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., welcomed Vice Admiral Eksit Wutthipao and his delegation on 19 May 2026 during their visit to Singapore for the 2026 SINGSIAM Exercise.

The SINGSIAM Exercise is a bilateral naval exercise conducted every two years between the Royal Thai Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy. The exercise aims to strengthen longstanding military ties between the two countries and improve the operational readiness and coordination of naval personnel in joint maritime operations.

During the meeting, both sides discussed several important topics related to regional maritime security and defence cooperation. These included the history and strategic importance of the SINGSIAM Exercise, future naval training initiatives proposed by Thailand, and cooperation in regional maritime patrol operations.

The discussions also covered broader security concerns, including the impact of ongoing tensions in the Middle East on global and regional energy security. Both parties exchanged views on maritime cooperation involving major powers and the importance of maintaining stability and security in regional waters.

Officials noted that the continued collaboration between the Thai and Singaporean navies reflects the strong and friendly relations shared by both countries, while also helping both sides adapt to evolving security challenges in the region.
