The High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda in Singapore commemorated the 32nd anniversary of Kwibohora, Rwanda’s Liberation Day, with a diplomatic reception attended by senior officials from the Government of Singapore, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, Friends of Rwanda, and members of the Rwandan community. The event celebrated Rwanda’s liberation and reflected on the country’s progress over the past three decades while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening international partnerships.

Held in Singapore, the reception brought together representatives from the diplomatic corps, government officials, and members of the Rwandan diaspora to commemorate a significant milestone in Rwanda’s national history. The annual observance of Kwibohora marks the end of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and Rwanda’s journey towards peace, national unity, and sustainable development.

In his address, High Commissioner Innocent B. Muhizi paid tribute to the men and women who contributed to Rwanda’s liberation, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice in securing the country’s freedom. He reflected on Rwanda’s transformation over the past 32 years, noting that the country’s development has been guided by the principles of unity, resilience, inclusion, and innovation.

The High Commissioner also highlighted the continued growth of Rwanda–Singapore relations, underscoring expanding cooperation in areas including financial technology (fintech), artificial intelligence, education, sustainability, security, and trade. He noted that collaboration between the two countries continues to deepen through shared priorities in innovation, capacity building, and economic development.
