One of the visit’s landmark outcomes was a joint initiative to conserve and restore the Prambanan Temple Complex in Central Java. President Prabowo described the UNESCO World Heritage Site as “a powerful symbol of the deep civilizational ties between Indonesia and India.” According to Indonesia’s state news agency ANTARA, His Excellency Fadli Zon, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, said the collaboration reflects the shared responsibility of both countries to preserve their common cultural heritage for future generations.
The two leaders also announced 2026-2027 as the Tagore-Dewantara Year for Cultural and Educational Diplomacy, honouring the enduring legacy of Rabindranath Tagore of India and Ki Hadjar Dewantara of Indonesia. The initiative is expected to expand educational exchanges, artistic collaboration and people-to-people connections between the two nations.
According to PMO India, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that stronger bilateral cooperation would contribute to India’s vision of Developed India and Indonesia’s Golden Indonesia 2045. He also welcomed progress towards integrating India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with Indonesia’s Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) by the end of 2026 and announced support for the Indonesia Open Network (ION), which adopts the architecture of India’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to strengthen digital commerce.
Addressing the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), Prime Minister Modi described democracy as the foundation of both nations’ progress and called for deeper collaboration in artificial intelligence, clean energy, digital technology and the space sector. Her Excellency Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, noted that Prime Minister Modi became the third foreign head of government to address Indonesia’s Parliament.
