Officially opened on 4 July 2026, the Kuala Lumpur Durian Experience Centre (KLDEX) offers more than just a place to eat durian. Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, it takes visitors on an immersive journey through Malaysia’s culture, history and agricultural heritage while celebrating the nation’s most iconic fruit.
The Kuala Lumpur Durian Experience Centre (KLDEX) is Malaysia’s premier destination dedicated entirely to the King of Fruits. Situated at MaTiC on Jalan Ampang, just minutes from the Petronas Twin Towers, the centre officially opened on 4 July 2026 as Asia’s first integrated durian experience centre. It introduces visitors to the fascinating story behind Malaysian durians through interactive exhibits, cultural storytelling and guided experiences. Rather than focusing solely on tasting, KLDEX presents durian as a gateway to understanding Malaysia’s traditions, people and rich agricultural heritage.

Spanning two floors, KLDEX combines a Durian Culture Museum, immersive theatre, guided tastings, café, retail space and art gallery under one roof. Guests can explore the origins of Malaysia’s renowned durian varieties, learn about the country’s diverse growing regions and discover the generations of expertise that have shaped the industry. Trained hosts guide visitors through the aromas, textures and flavour profiles of premium cultivars, helping both first-time tasters and seasoned enthusiasts appreciate the unique characteristics of each fruit.

Beyond the fruit itself, KLDEX celebrates Malaysia’s cultural identity. The immersive theatre showcases local stories and traditions, while the museum highlights the relationship between farmers, orchards and communities that have nurtured the nation’s durian legacy for decades. Visitors can also enjoy durian-inspired cuisine, browse exclusive souvenirs and participate in educational programmes, making the attraction suitable for families, tour groups, schools and international travellers alike.

KLDEX is open daily from 10:30 am to 12:00 midnight, giving visitors ample time to explore the attraction at their own pace. The Durian Culture Museum operates until 10:30 pm, while immersive theatre shows are scheduled at 11:30 am, 2:00 pm, 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Guests can enjoy durian-inspired food and beverages at the café from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm, while the retail shop remains open until 10:30 pm.

Supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and Tourism Malaysia, KLDEX serves as both a cultural landmark and an innovative tourism attraction that showcases one of the country’s greatest culinary treasures. Whether you are a curious first-time visitor or a devoted durian lover, KLDEX offers an engaging experience that reveals why durian is much more than a fruit—it is a symbol of Malaysia’s heritage and hospitality.
