Discussions between H.E. Cao Zhongming and ComfortDelGro Group CEO Mr Cheng Siak Kian highlighted new opportunities for China–Singapore collaboration in smart mobility, with autonomous driving identified as a key area for future cooperation.
H.E. Cao Zhongming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Singapore, met with Mr Cheng Siak Kian, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of ComfortDelGro, for in-depth discussions on strengthening transport cooperation between China and Singapore. The meeting focused on expanding collaboration in smart transport and exploring new opportunities driven by technological innovation.
Following the discussions, Ambassador Cao experienced ComfortDelGro’s autonomous shuttle service in Punggol, gaining first-hand insight into Singapore’s advancements in intelligent mobility. The visit showcased the city-state’s continued efforts to integrate autonomous vehicle technology into its public transport ecosystem and highlighted the practical applications of smart mobility solutions.
Ambassador Cao noted that China and Singapore possess significant potential to deepen cooperation in areas such as autonomous driving. As both countries continue investing in emerging transport technologies, closer partnerships between businesses could accelerate innovation, facilitate knowledge exchange and support the development of safer and more efficient mobility systems.
Looking ahead, Ambassador Cao expressed his hope that enterprises from both countries will continue expanding cooperation in smart transport.
