The Mongolian Ambassador and Singapore’s Permanent Secretary for Transport discussed direct air connectivity, transit routes and transport cooperation.
H.E. Mrs Uyanga Ganbold, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Singapore, met Mr Lau Peet Meng, Permanent Secretary of Singapore’s Ministry of Transport, on 13 August 2026 to discuss bilateral cooperation in the transport sector.
The meeting covered human resource development in civil aviation, road, maritime and inland water transport, including training and internship opportunities for professionals. H.E. Mrs Uyanga also proposed exploring the sustainable restoration of direct flights between Ulaanbaatar and Singapore and the potential use of Changi Airport as a transit hub connecting Mongolia with Australia.
The two sides also discussed transport and logistics challenges related to Mongolia’s landlocked geography, potential new transit routes and opportunities to increase tourism flows between Mongolia and Singapore. Mr Lau expressed Singapore’s readiness to share expertise, strengthen professional capacity and provide relevant support in the transport sector.
