Cambodian athletes claimed three silver medals in the team events, with further competition continuing in women’s singles and mixed doubles.
Cambodia secured three silver medals in the team events at the Badminton Asia Southeast Asia Regional Championships 2026, held in Cambodia from 15 to 21 August. The regional competition featured U16, U19 and U23 categories.
Cambodian national badminton team coach Mr. Chhit Samean said the athletes performed well despite missing out on gold in the team events. Attention then turned to the remaining competitions, which continued until 21 August.
Ms. Loeung Malinich, a Cambodian badminton gold medallist in 2025, was set to compete in the women’s singles and mixed doubles after losing to Myanmar in the team final. She remained confident in her chances of defending her title and adding further gold medals.
The championships welcomed young athletes from ASEAN countries, including Cambodia, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam, alongside Timor-Leste.
