FutureChina Global Forum 2026 Highlights China’s AI Surge and Enterprise Transformation

Day 1 of the 17th FutureChina Global Forum brought together policymakers, technologists and business leaders to examine what’s powering China’s AI growth, how enterprises are turning adoption into advantage, and the governance questions that come with scaling AI across economies.

The 17th FutureChina Global Forum (FCGF) opened its AI Track on 24 September 2026, with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How delivering the opening remarks. The forum, organised by Business China under the theme “Strengthening Resilience, Rebuilding Trust,” brought together policymakers, technologists and business leaders to examine the forces reshaping China’s AI trajectory and its implications for the region.

The first panel, “Inside China’s AI: What’s Powering the Surge,” examined the policy environment, capital, organisational models and infrastructure driving China’s AI growth and adoption at scale. Speakers included Xie Xin (David), CEO of Lark, Yang Fengyu (Fred), Founder and CEO of UniX AI, Liang Xinjun, Co-founder of Fosun Group, and Wu Gansha, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of UISEE Technology, moderated by Jiang Changjian of Fudan University’s School of International Relations and Public Affairs.

The second panel, “Putting AI to Work: What Separates the Enterprise Leaders,” turned to the gap between organisations that successfully embed AI into their operations and those still experimenting.

Panellists included Guan Dian of PatSnap, Zhou Yuxiang of Black Lake Technologies, Simon See of NVIDIA’s AI Technology Center, Thomas Wee of Gleneagles Hospital Singapore and IHH Healthcare Singapore, and Cynthia Zhang of FutureX Capital, moderated by Kuek Yu Chuang of SPH Media.

The final panel of the day, “The Stakes of Scale: AI Safety as Strategic Imperative,” addressed the growing tension between AI capability and the governance systems meant to keep pace with it.

Speakers included He Ruimin, Singapore’s Government Chief AI Officer at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information, Zhang Hongjiang, Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University for Gunjan Bhardwaj, Founder and CEO of Partex AI, moderated by Kaiser Kuo of the Sinica Podcast.

The day concluded with an appreciation dinner attended by SMS Tan Kiat How and Sim Ann, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs, hosted by Business China’s Chairman Lee Yi Shyan and CEO Kwek Poh Heok.

The AI Track set the stage for FCGF’s Day 2 Main Forum, which continues discussions on resilience and trust across ASEAN-China cooperation and China’s economic transition.
