Thailand and Singapore explored opportunities in culture, cuisine, wellness, business and hospitality cooperation.
On 24 September 2026, H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, visited Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore with Mrs. Nathama Koonphol, Director of the Thai Trade Center (DITP) in Singapore, and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy. The delegation met with Mr. Bruno Rotschaedl, General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore, to learn about the hotel’s operations and explore potential areas of cooperation supporting Thai culture, business engagement and hospitality.
During the visit, Mr. Rotschaedl hosted a working lunch for the delegation and provided an overview of the Dusit Group’s brand identity and heritage. He highlighted the group’s founding vision of Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, which combined international hospitality standards with a distinctive Thai identity.
The General Manager also explained the origin of the name “Dusit”, which refers to the fourth level of heaven in Thai cosmology. He further described the historical reference to “Dusit Thani”, the utopian model city established by His Majesty King Rama VI in 1918 to represent harmony between Thai and Western values.
The discussion subsequently focused on potential avenues for future cooperation involving Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore. The participants explored the hotel’s potential role as a platform for promoting Thai culture, culinary traditions and Thai-inspired wellness in Singapore.
The delegation and hotel management also discussed opportunities to support bilateral business engagements and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) activities. In addition, they considered the hotel’s potential role in hosting and supporting visiting Thai delegations to Singapore.
The engagement provided an opportunity for representatives of the Royal Thai Embassy, Thai Trade Center and Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore to exchange views on practical areas of cooperation linking Thailand’s cultural and hospitality traditions with business and institutional engagement in Singapore.
