Located along Viet Nam’s central coast, Phu Yen offers a striking combination of mountains, beaches, fishing villages and cultural heritage. With around 200 kilometres of coastline, the province remains relatively off the beaten path while gradually attracting travellers to its unspoilt landscapes.

Among its coastal highlights is Bai Mon, a secluded beach surrounded by mountains, where visitors can climb towards Mui Dien Lighthouse for sweeping sunrise views. Bai Xep, meanwhile, gained wider recognition after appearing in the Vietnamese film Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh, becoming known for its grassy hills and picturesque coastline.

Another remarkable attraction is Da Dia Reef, where distinctive geometric basalt formations created by ancient volcanic activity extend towards the sea. Tuy Hoa, the provincial capital, also provides easy access to a long sandy beach and coastal promenade.

Phu Yen’s cultural heritage is equally compelling. Nhan Tower, an ancient Cham structure dating to the late 11th century, overlooks Tuy Hoa and the Da Rang River, while the Gothic-style Mang Lang Church offers another glimpse into the province’s history.

With its natural landscapes, cultural treasures and peaceful coastal communities, Phu Yen presents an inviting alternative for travellers looking to discover a lesser-explored side of Viet Nam.
