SMF meetings with Chinese trade and government representatives explored market access and industrial partnerships
The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) held a series of engagements with Chinese trade promotion organisations, municipal commerce bureaus and government agencies in September 2026 to explore business opportunities and expand commercial links between Singapore manufacturers and Chinese partners.

The engagements included meetings with representatives from Guangdong, Qingdao, Jiujiang and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, covering trade promotion, economic cooperation, healthcare and medical technology (MedTech).
On 11 September, SMF met Ms Wang Shuyan, Director of International Affairs at the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangdong. Discussions focused on opportunities to develop business connections between Singapore manufacturers and companies in Guangdong.
On 16 September, SMF President Mr Lennon Tan and Council Member Mr Neo Sing Hwee received a delegation from the Qingdao Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) and the Qingdao Municipal Commerce Bureau. The meeting explored opportunities to expand economic and business cooperation between Singapore and Qingdao.
The following day, SMF Chief Executive Officer Mr Wayne Yap and Council Member Mr Marcus Sia hosted a delegation from the Jiujiang Municipal Commerce Bureau, led by Bureau Director Ms Shi Lan. Discussions focused on developing business connections and exploring further cooperation between Singapore and Jiujiang.
SMF also participated in a meeting hosted by CCPIT with representatives from the Healthcare Security Administration of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The delegation was led by Deputy Director Mr Lai Yongdong. SMF’s MedTech Industry Group Committee supported the engagement, which focused on potential opportunities in healthcare and medical technology.
The meetings provided opportunities for Singapore manufacturers to engage with Chinese government representatives and trade organisations, explore potential partnerships and establish business connections in different markets.
Through these engagements, SMF continued its efforts to connect Singapore manufacturers with international partners and identify opportunities for market access and business growth. The discussions also covered potential areas for closer economic engagement between Singapore and Chinese cities and regions.
