Located approximately 13 kilometres from Kuantan, the capital of Pahang, Sungai Pandan Waterfall is a popular natural attraction known for its multi-tiered cascades. Also called Panching Waterfall by locals because of its proximity to Panching village, it is situated within the Sungai Pandan Forest Reserve, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest.

The waterfall descends from a height of approximately 250 metres across three levels of cliffs before flowing into a large, emerald-hued pool. Its natural surroundings make it a popular destination for local visitors, particularly during weekends and public holidays.

Outdoor Recreation Amid Tropical Rainforest

Sungai Pandan Waterfall offers facilities for picnics and outdoor gatherings. Visitors can enjoy the riverside setting, prepare barbecues at designated gazebos or relax amid the surrounding greenery. A suspended bridge is another notable feature of the site, providing elevated views of the cascading waterfall and the forest landscape.

Beyond the waterfall itself, the Sungai Pandan Forest Reserve features jungle trails for visitors interested in exploring the area’s natural environment. The forest also serves as a venue for nature-based recreational activities. In 2019, the management organised the Fun Run Sungai Pandan Waterfall, giving participants an opportunity to experience the forest’s flora and fauna.

Facilities within the recreational area include campgrounds, a spacious car park and a prayer room for Muslim visitors. Local food vendors are also available near the park, while the waterfall can be reached within a few minutes’ walk from the entrance.

Visitor Information and Entrance Fees

The park’s stated operating hours are 9.00 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Thursday, and 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on weekends and public holidays. It is closed on Fridays for maintenance.

Based on the provided visitor information, entrance fees for Malaysian citizens presenting a MyKad are RM2 for adults and RM1 for children. Foreign visitors pay RM5 for adults and RM3 for children. The parking fee is RM3 per car. Visitors are advised to check the latest operating hours, fees and access arrangements before travelling.

How to Get to Sungai Pandan Waterfall

Sungai Pandan Waterfall is accessible by road from Kuantan, with the route continuing towards Felda Panching Selatan. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes from Sungai Lembing and around three hours from Kuala Lumpur, depending on traffic and road conditions.
