Working visit focuses on regional food security, sustainable agriculture and bilateral agrifood cooperation.
YB Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Malaysia’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, visited Singapore from 27 to 29 October 2026 to attend the 48th ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) and Related Meetings. During the working visit, he participated in ministerial discussions on regional food security, sustainable agricultural practices and cooperation among ASEAN member states, while also engaging with the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore on bilateral agricultural initiatives.

The High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore welcomed the Minister for the three-day visit, which centred on his participation in the 48th ASEAN AMAF and Related Meetings. The ministerial sessions were guided by this year’s theme, “Rooted in Partnerships, Growing Our Resilience”, highlighting regional priorities in agriculture and food security.

Discussions during the meetings focused on strengthening regional food security, advancing sustainable agricultural practices and deepening cross-border cooperation among ASEAN member states. These areas were central to the ministerial agenda, reflecting the shared priorities of ASEAN countries in addressing agricultural challenges and supporting resilient food systems.

As part of his official programme, YB Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu attended a dinner hosted in his honour by H.E. Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar bin Adnin, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, on 28 October 2026.
The dinner provided an opportunity for the Minister to engage with the High Commission’s diplomatic team and discuss key bilateral initiatives between Malaysia and Singapore. Discussions included agriculture and agrifood supply chain resilience, areas of mutual interest in the two countries’ bilateral relations.

The engagement also provided an opportunity to discuss agricultural priorities in the context of Malaysia-Singapore relations, alongside the regional agenda addressed during the ASEAN ministerial meetings.
The working visit concluded on 29 October 2026, following the Minister’s participation in the 48th ASEAN AMAF and Related Meetings and his engagements with the Malaysian diplomatic mission in Singapore.
