Discussion focused on regional economic developments, financial reporting and Thailand’s investment landscape.
H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, hosted a working luncheon with senior representatives of Bloomberg at the Ambassador’s Residence in Singapore on 28 October 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity for the Royal Thai Embassy and the international media organisation to exchange perspectives on regional economic developments, journalistic practices and the coverage of Thailand’s financial and investment sectors.
The luncheon was attended by Ms Katrina Nicholas, Managing Director for Southeast Asia at Bloomberg, and Ms Chayaporn Chanjaroen, Senior Asia Finance Reporter. The engagement provided a platform for discussions on Bloomberg’s regional operations and the role of international media in reporting on economic and financial developments.
During the discussion, the Bloomberg representatives shared insights into the organisation’s operations in Southeast Asia and outlined its approach to journalism. They underscored Bloomberg’s commitment to core journalistic principles, particularly accuracy, independence, transparency and data-driven reporting.
These principles were discussed in the context of international financial and economic reporting, with both sides exchanging views on developments affecting the region. The conversation also provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of comprehensive reporting in presenting economic trends and investment opportunities to international audiences.
Particular attention was given to Thailand’s financial and economic landscape, including its sustainable investment sector. Both sides explored potential avenues for expanding coverage of these areas through Bloomberg’s global media networks, helping international audiences gain access to information on Thailand’s economic developments and investment environment.
The working luncheon reflected the Embassy’s engagement with international media representatives as part of its outreach activities in Singapore. The exchange also offered an opportunity for the Embassy and Bloomberg representatives to develop a mutual understanding of their respective priorities in communicating regional economic developments.
Through the discussion, the participants addressed the role of international financial journalism in providing accurate and transparent information on Southeast Asian markets, while considering opportunities to broaden international media coverage of Thailand’s economy and sustainable investment landscape.
