Meeting explored disaster preparedness, humanitarian partnerships and cooperation between Thai and Singaporean organisations.
H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, met Mr Benjamin William, Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Singapore Red Cross, on 29 October 2026 at the organisation’s office in Singapore. The visit aimed to introduce the Ambassador following her assumption of diplomatic duties, establish cordial relations with Singapore’s leading humanitarian organisation and explore opportunities for cooperation in disaster relief and social development.
During the meeting, Mr William and representatives of the Singapore Red Cross briefed Ambassador Waraphannee on the organisation’s strategic operations, objectives and humanitarian mission. The briefing outlined three core pillars guiding its work: Building Community Resilience, Local Services and International Engagement.
The first pillar, Building Community Resilience, focuses on supporting communities in preparing for and responding to emergencies and disasters. Local Services encompasses the organisation’s humanitarian activities and assistance within Singapore, while International Engagement covers its involvement in humanitarian initiatives beyond the country.
The discussion also provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on areas of mutual interest and consider potential avenues for future cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore and the Singapore Red Cross.
Particular attention was given to developing partnerships between the Singapore Red Cross and the Thai Red Cross Society. Both sides discussed the potential for sharing knowledge and best practices in disaster preparedness, as well as coordinating efforts to support humanitarian and charitable initiatives in the region.
The exchange also highlighted the role of humanitarian organisations in addressing disaster-related challenges and supporting social development through international partnerships and the sharing of expertise.
The visit provided a platform for the Royal Thai Embassy and the Singapore Red Cross to discuss their respective humanitarian priorities and identify areas where closer engagement could be pursued. The discussions focused on practical cooperation, particularly in disaster response, community resilience and humanitarian assistance.
The meeting concluded with both sides having exchanged perspectives on opportunities to develop ties between the two organisations, including future engagement involving the Thai Red Cross Society and the Singapore Red Cross.
