Singapore’s Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs and National Development, Ms Sim Ann, attended the 5th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Doha

THE Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) was held in Doha from 5th to 7th March 2023. Singapore was represented there by Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs and National Development, Ms Sim Ann, at the conference.

SMS Sim made a statement during the general debate where she expressed Singapore’s commitment to assisting LDCs in their progress toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She urged the international community to assist LDCs in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by:
(a) Promoting climate resilience
(b) Closing the financing gap
(c) Accelerating digital transformation
(d) Strengthening global partnerships

She also discussed Singapore’s engagement with other developing countries to strengthen capacity building under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.

SMS Sim was accompanied by Singapore’s Ambassador to Qatar, Jai Sohan Singh, as well as colleagues from the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Singapore has benefited much from the aid of others on its development journey and this is the reason why the country is dedicated to contributing to capacity building and the sharing of best practices within the international community.
