His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen of Brunei embarks on a fellowship visit to Singapore, reinforcing the enduring ties between the two nations.

On his visit to Singapore from September 11th to 14th, 2023, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen of Brunei Darussalam attended the 75th Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow (LKYEF) and the sixth from Brunei, He was accompanied by Brunei’s Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, Dato Dr Amin Liew, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato Riza Yunos, along with senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Finance and Economy.

During his visit, His Royal Highness met with several key figures including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Education Dr Maliki Osman. A welcome dinner was hosted in his honor by Mr Lee Tzu Yang, Chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship.

Additionally, His Royal Highness participated in a series of briefings and site visits covering areas such as economic transformation, urban planning, technical and vocational education, defense, sustainable development, and entrepreneurship, all of which were hosted by the relevant Ministries and agencies.

Established in 1991, the LKYEF invited exceptional individuals for high-level visits to Singapore, selecting Fellows based on their outstanding track records and potential to make significant contributions to their nations and bilateral relations with Singapore. This visit by His Royal Highness served to underscore the enduring and special relationship shared between Singapore and Brunei.
