GMA Sparkle artist, Mr. Kimson Tan, paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig, on 18th October 2023, at the Philippine Embassy. Tan is currently in Singapore for the shooting of King of Hawkers, a film commissioned by the National Heritage Board and Singapore Tourism Board, that is set to be released during the Chinese New Year festivie period in 2024.

Tan is the sole Filipino actor alongside his Singaporean and Hong Kong counterparts in the film. “King of Hawkers” serves as a tribute to Singapore’s vibrant hawker culture, narrating the story of hawkers banding together to safeguard their businesses and cherished recipes against a multinational corporation. This cultural narrative holds immense significance as Singapore’s hawker culture was recognized in 2020 by UNESCO, earning a spot on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
