“National Games celebrates India’s exceptional sporting prowess”

THE 37th National Games were officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa. Running from October 26th to November 9th, this prestigious sporting event has drawn over 10,000 athletes from across India, who will vie for victory in 43 diverse sports disciplines at 28 venues.

Addressing the audience, Prime Minister Modi hailed the vibrant atmosphere of Goa, praising the state’s deep-rooted love for sports, particularly football. He underscored India’s recent achievements in international sporting events like the Asian Games and Asian Para Games, setting new records and inspiring a new generation of athletes. Modi emphasized the critical role of National Games in nurturing young talent, highlighting the government’s comprehensive approach to sports development since 2014.

The Prime Minister outlined a roadmap, emphasizing talent discovery through initiatives like Khelo India, followed by rigorous training and support through TOPS for potential Olympians. He emphasized the correlation between a nation’s sporting success and its overall economic progress, pointing to India’s recent achievements across various sectors. With MY Bharat, a new platform aimed at connecting youth with national schemes, Modi envisions a transformation of India’s youth power into the driving force behind a developed nation. Concluding his address, he declared the 37th National Games open, encouraging athletes to seize this opportunity and perform at their best.
