Senior Minister of State Sim Ann, accompanied by officials, embarked on a fruitful visit to Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, focusing on enhancing cooperation in areas like digital economy and innovation.
Senior Minister of State (SMS), Sim Ann, holding portfolios in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Development, concluded a successful visit to Zhejiang and Anhui provinces in the People’s Republic of China from 29th October to 2nd November 2023. The visit aimed to bolster ties and explore opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.
During her stay in Zhejiang, SMS Sim Ann held productive meetings with key officials including Zhejiang Deputy Party Secretary and Hangzhou Party Secretary Liu Jie, Zhejiang Vice Governor and Singapore-Zhejiang Economic and Trade Council Co-Chair Lu Shan, Yiwu Party Secretary Wang Jian, and Yiwu Mayor Ye Bangrui. Discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in crucial areas such as the digital economy, innovation, and youth exchanges. SMS Sim Ann also took the opportunity to tour the Singapore-Hangzhou Science and Tech Park, as well as engage with representatives from Singapore and Zhejiang companies, further deepening understanding and collaboration.
In Anhui, SMS Sim Ann met with Anhui Vice Governor Shan Xiangqian, Chuzhou Party Secretary Xu Jiwei, and Hefei Vice Mayor Zhao Ming. The discussions reaffirmed the warm and enduring ties between Singapore and Anhui, emphasizing the importance of facilitating people-to-people exchanges. SMS Sim Ann also visited the Suzhou-Chuzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, a joint venture initiative between the Chuzhou municipal government and the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Group Co. Ltd, showcasing the collaborative efforts in economic development.
The visit not only solidified bilateral relations between Singapore and the provinces of Zhejiang and Anhui but also paved the way for enhanced cooperation and mutual growth in various sectors of significance.
