Lt. Col. Jimrhic Obias, a distinguished Philippine Army Officer, emerges as a standout graduate from the prestigious Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College in Singapore, emphasizing the importance of global cooperation in preventing conflicts in Asia

IN a significant accomplishment, Lt. Col. Jimrhic Obias of the Philippine Army recently concluded the Command and Staff Course (CSC) at Singapore’s renowned Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College (GKS CSC). The 10-month programme, held from 16th January to 2nd November 2023, attracted 232 military officers, including 18 International Officers from 11 countries.

During the graduation ceremony at the Istana on 2nd November 2023, with Singapore’s Minister for Defense, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, as the Guest of Honor, Lt. Col. Obias received the Book Prize for his outstanding paper titled “Preventing War in Asia: The Impact of UN, Great Powers, and Regional Institutions on Stability.” His insightful analysis delved into the persisting concerns about conflict and war in the region, shedding light on the evolving geopolitical tensions arising from territorial disputes in Asia.

The CSC, CSC (NS), and CSC (Executive) are comprehensive courses offered by the GKS CSC, preparing officers for senior command and staff appointments in the Singapore Armed Forces. This formal military education, the highest level in Singapore, caters to regular, National Service (NS), and international officers. Lt. Col. Obias’s achievement not only reflects his excellence but also underscores the significance of international collaboration in addressing complex geopolitical challenges.

As Lt. Col. Jimrhic Obias returns to his duties in the Philippine Army, his experience at the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College stands as a testament to the commitment to excellence and global cooperation in shaping the future of military leadership.
