Ambassador Kaplan explores Singapore’s cutting-edge semiconductor facility, highlighting strong US-Singapore trade relations and innovation in technology.

US Ambassador to Singapore, Jonathan Kaplan, visited the new USD 4 billion fabrication plant of GlobalFoundries in Singapore. GlobalFoundries is a multinational semiconductor manufacturing company headquartered in New York, USA. The 23,000-square-meter plant is Singapore’s most advanced semiconductor facility, with the potential to create 1,000 high-quality jobs.

The United States leads in semiconductor technology, supported by a strong R&D environment and innovative culture. American companies continue to invest in Singapore, with over USD 309.4 billion in U.S. foreign direct investment (FDI) recorded in 2022.

The US-Singapore trade and investment relations are stronger than ever, thanks to companies like GlobalFoundries. Ambassador Kaplan’s visit underscores the importance of innovation and collaboration in the technology sector.
