A delegation of 40 young female executives from South Africa participates in a development program in Singapore to enhance their skills in finance and accounting.

THE High Commission of South Africa in Singapore hosted a delegation of 40 young female executives as part of the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training (FASSET) Female Executive Development Programme. This initiative facilitated through the International Women’s Forum South Africa (IWFSA) and DUKE CE, aims to empower women in the financial and accounting sector. The delegation, led by senior executives including Ms. Shamla Chetty, CEO of Duke CE Global, Mr. Khulekani Khoza from FASSET, and Adv. Nicqui Galactiou from IWFSA included C-suite women executives from both the public and private sectors in South Africa.

The FASSET Female Executive Development Programme is a 12-month program that includes excursions for the cohort. It is aligned with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on skills transfer signed by South Africa and Singapore during the Official Visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Right Honourable Lee Hsien Loong, to South Africa in May 2023.

During their visit, the delegation explored various aspects of Singapore’s economic model, which has propelled the country into one of the world’s most progressive economies in just five decades. They interacted with the IWF Singapore, led by President Siak Ching Chong, as well as several government departments, agencies, and business organizations to learn from their models and innovations.

The High Commission commended FASSET, IWFSA, and DUKE CE for the success of the program and expressed hope that the lessons learned would be implemented in South Africa, contributing to the country’s prosperity.
