Singapore and Hong Kong Bolster Economic and Educational Ties During High-Level Talks
During his official visit to the People’s Republic of China from April 7 to April 12, 2024, Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, Heng Swee Keat, met with John Lee, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The meeting, which took place on the final day of Deputy Prime Minister Heng’s visit, focused on reinforcing the strong and enduring partnership between Singapore and Hong Kong.
The two leaders discussed several key areas where bilateral cooperation can be enhanced, including trade, innovation, research, and education. Deputy Prime Minister Heng expressed his optimism regarding Hong Kong’s ongoing development and prosperity under the “One Country, Two Systems” policy framework.
Deputy Prime Minister Heng is scheduled to return to Singapore today, marking the end of his productive six-day visit.
