Sim Ann, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State, visited Henan to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new cooperative opportunities.
From 16 to 18 April 2024, Senior Minister of State Sim Ann of Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Development conducted a working visit to Zhengzhou, Henan Province, in the People’s Republic of China. Accompanied by a delegation that included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Economic Development Board, and Enterprise Singapore, Sim Ann’s visit emphasized reinforcing Singapore’s relationship with Henan.
During her visit, Sim Ann met with Henan Governor Wang Kai and An Wei, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Zhengzhou Municipal Committee. The discussions revolved around strengthening the already warm ties between Singapore and Henan, acknowledging the significant presence of Singaporean companies in the region, particularly in sectors like food processing and logistics. Both parties expressed enthusiasm about expanding cooperation into new areas such as talent development, food security, connectivity, and cultural exchanges.
Sim Ann also toured several key locations, including leading companies in the transportation and logistics sectors, as well as the Central Plains Science and Technology City. These visits provided insights into Henan’s economic priorities and advancements. Furthermore, a visit to Zhengzhou University offered a closer look at the institution’s focus on research and higher education.
The visit, marking a step forward in bilateral relations, concluded with Sim Ann’s return to Singapore on 18 April 2024.
