The High Commission of the Republic of South Africa in Singapore collaborates with Fixing Each Other’s Crown and the South African Chamber of Commerce for a trade mission empowering women entrepreneurs.

DURING the week of April 15th to 19th, 2024, the High Commission of the Republic of South Africa in Singapore organized an incoming trade mission in partnership with Fixing Each Other’s Crown and the South African Chamber of Commerce. This mission brought together 20 women from South Africa, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe, along with three male gender equality champions, aiming to promote women’s economic inclusion in Singapore.

The trade mission commenced with a dinner hosted by HE Madiepetsane Charlotte Lobe, the South African High Commissioner, at the South African Official Residence in Singapore on April 17th, 2024. Subsequently, a trade seminar was held on April 18th, themed “Diversity in Action: Women Driving Change,” at IMDA Pixel. Key stakeholders from Singapore, including the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and the Singapore Women Entrepreneurs Network (SG-WEN), participated in the seminar, which focused on fostering collaboration and understanding in the business landscape.

Delegates engaged in B2B meetings on April 19th and 20th, facilitated by a dedicated platform for business matching and networking. Additionally, the delegation visited the AI Hub Huawei Innovation Lab Asia, gaining insights into Singapore’s innovation ecosystem. The Spark Incubator program, launched by Huawei Cloud in partnership with IMDA’s PIXEL Innovation Hub, was highlighted as a crucial initiative supporting early-stage startups in Singapore.

The High Commission of the Republic of South Africa in Singapore views this trade mission as a significant step towards promoting women’s empowerment and achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Collaboration with Fixing Each Other’s Crown and the South African Chamber of Commerce underscores the commitment to fostering real partnerships for sustainable development.
