The Singapore-Thailand Third Country Training Programme addresses climate change’s impact on health and the environment, drawing participants from across ASEAN.

From June 13 to 17, 2023, the Singapore-Thailand Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) on Climate Change and Its Impact on Environment and Health was held in Singapore. This initiative brought together participants from various ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, to discuss and explore the critical intersections between climate change and public health.

The programme opened on May 13, 2024, with remarks from H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore. Ambassador Ureerat highlighted Thailand’s commitment to strengthening global health systems and ensuring equitable healthcare access through the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and its partners. She emphasized the importance of understanding climate change’s impacts, such as emerging diseases, migration patterns, and urban planning challenges.

Mr. Tang Weng Chau, Deputy Director of Technical Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, welcomed participants, expressing his hope that the training would equip them with the necessary tools and techniques to explore the linkages between climate change and human health. He also stressed the significance of effectively communicating these findings to policymakers and the general public.

The Singapore-Thailand Third Country Training Programme is a collaborative effort between Singapore and Thailand, aimed at sharing best practices and lessons learned in addressing the urgent global issues posed by climate change. The programme underscores the shared commitment of both nations to tackling the health and environmental challenges brought about by a changing climate.
