The Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore hosts a reception and preview screening of the Thai drama-comedy “Lahn Ma,” celebrating cultural diplomacy and family values.

SINGAPORE, 20 May 2024 – The Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore hosted a special reception and preview screening of the acclaimed Thai film “Lahn Ma,” also known as “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies.” The event was hosted by Her Excellency Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand, and aimed to showcase Thailand’s cultural heritage through cinema.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador Ureerat Chareontoh warmly welcomed the attendees, expressing the Embassy’s honor in supporting the screening of “Lahn Ma.” She highlighted the film’s universal appeal and its touching exploration of family relationships, sacrifices, and the pursuit of dreams. Although she had not yet seen the film herself, Ambassador Ureerat acknowledged the glowing reviews it has received, suggesting its emotional depth and cultural significance.

“Tonight, I hope our Thai friends will be reminded of the importance of family bonds, while our non-Thai friends will gain a deeper appreciation of our way of life, family principles, and of course, our food,” Ambassador Ureerat noted, referencing the congee served at the event as a cultural touchstone.

The event brought together a diverse audience, including ambassadors, film industry professionals, members of the press, and the Thai community in Singapore. Ambassador Ureerat expressed her heartfelt gratitude for their support, acknowledging them as the true “Friends of Thailand.”
