The multi-year commemoration of Philippine Independence Day (2023-2026) highlights the birth of the Filipino nation from the proclamation of Philippine independence on 12 June 1898 in Kawit, Cavite, until the end of the first Filipino government with the capture of President Emilio Aguinaldo in Palanan, Isabela on 23 March 1901. The theme, “Kalayaan (Freedom), Kinabukasan (Future), Kasaysayan (History),” aims to raise awareness among the Filipino people of their place in history as the earliest modern democracy and republic in Asia.
As part of the Philippine Independence Day celebration, the Philippine Embassy is bringing back Food Trek, launched in 2023. Food Trek aims to showcase Filipino culture through the presentation of authentic Filipino cuisines and food products available in Singapore. It promotes Filipino restaurants and establishments that feature Filipino cuisine or dishes on their menu, highlights the skills of Filipinos within the food and beverage (F&B) and hotel, restaurant, and cafe (HoReCA) industries in Singapore, and provides a platform for Singapore-based Philippine companies, entrepreneurs, and enterprises to promote their businesses, food services, and products.
