Thailand’s Ambassador and Constitutional Court President met with Singapore’s Chief Justice to discuss judicial rights, AI integration, and an upcoming regional conference.
SINGAPORE, 22 August 2024 – H.E. Ureerat Chareontoh, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, along with Mr. Nakharin Mēktrairat, President of the Constitutional Court of Thailand, and a Constitutional Court Judge, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon of the Supreme Court of Singapore. The discussion centered on the Supreme Court’s role in safeguarding citizens’ rights and freedoms, and explored the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) within the judicial system.
Singapore has been at the forefront of incorporating AI to manage extensive data and enhance access to justice through technological innovations. The Thai delegation and Singaporean officials exchanged views on how AI can be leveraged to improve judicial efficiency and public service.
During the meeting, Mr. Mēktrairat also extended an invitation to Singapore to participate in the 6th Asia Association of Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) Conference, which will be held in Thailand from September 17-21, 2024. The invitation highlighted Thailand’s commitment to fostering regional collaboration and advancing judicial practices.
This visit underscores the ongoing partnership between Thailand and Singapore in refining judicial practices and integrating technology into the legal system, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing justice and legal innovation.
