The High Commission of India in Singapore celebrated Deepavali with Indian migrant workers, distributing hampers and announcing a consular outreach initiative

The High Commission of India in Singapore, in collaboration with Westlite Accommodation, organised a special Deepavali program for Indian migrant workers. The event, held at a Westlite facility, brought together members of the Indian community to celebrate the festive season while acknowledging the contributions of Indian workers in Singapore.

As part of the celebrations, grocery hampers were distributed to the migrant workers to help support their daily needs and bring a festive cheer to the occasion. The High Commissioner of India took the opportunity to express gratitude to the workers for their dedication and resilience, especially during challenging times.

In addition to the festivities, the High Commissioner announced a new initiative called the “last mile” consular outreach program. This program aims to provide essential consular services directly at the workers’ accommodation, ensuring that support is easily accessible for those who may face difficulties visiting the High Commission.

The outreach initiative is part of the High Commission’s continued commitment to serving the needs of the Indian community in Singapore. The event and the new consular service were well-received by attendees, highlighting the close ties between the High Commission and the Indian migrant workforce.
