High Commissioners from South Africa and Rwanda joined global leaders in Singapore to advance gender equality and sustainable finance at the landmark event
Singapore, 10 December 2024 – The High Commissioner of South Africa to Singapore, HE Madiepetsane Charlotte Lobe, and the Dean of the Africa Group in Singapore, HE Jean de Dieu UWIHANGANYE, recently participated in the Orange Forum 2024. The event, hosted by the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) in collaboration with Impact Investment Exchange (IIX) and the Australian Government, brought together global leaders from business, policy, and civil society to discuss strategies for advancing gender equality and sustainable finance.
The Forum highlighted Singapore’s role as a global hub for sustainable finance and its potential to leverage its strategic position to drive positive change. It showcased innovative tools, partnerships, and solutions that are transforming financial systems and empowering women across 60 countries.
In light of International Human Rights Day and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the Forum emphasized the importance of women’s access to productive resources. The 2024 theme, “Celebrating the Global Movement of Inclusive and Sustainable Finance,” underscored the urgency of turning gender equality commitments into tangible actions.
The High Commissioner of South Africa joined hundreds of leaders in signing the Orange Pledge, symbolizing the country’s commitment to advancing gender equality and sustainability. The Orange Movement aims to unlock women’s potential to drive transformative change, accelerate climate action, and achieve economic stability.
