The SMF Manufacturing Day Summit 2025 got off to a vibrant start with a dynamic showcase of innovation and partnerships. Graced by Guest of Honour Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of Trade and Industry, the event highlighted Singapore’s commitment to becoming a global leader in sustainable and human-centric manufacturing. Mr. Tan remarked, “as we celebrate 60 years of Singapore’s independence this year, we also celebrate and remember how manufacturing has been such an integral role in the building of our nation. The manufacturing sector is very forward-looking, very orderly, and very innovative. But we still have not managed to manufacture a time machine.”
Mr. Lennon Tan, President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), reiterated Singapore’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies for a future-ready manufacturing ecosystem. He stated, “Singapore stands at the forefront of adopting innovative practices that prioritize sustainability, workforce upskilling, and collaboration. Together, we are building a resilient and inclusive manufacturing landscape.”

Several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed during the summit, solidifying partnerships aimed at fostering collaboration and growth. The launch of the MNC-SMB Alliance was a key highlight, promoting knowledge sharing and co-development between multinational corporations and small- and medium-sized businesses. Additionally, the formation of the Women in Manufacturing Committee marked a significant step towards supporting diversity and inspiring leadership roles for women in the industry.
The summit concluded with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Initiatives like the Green Excellence for Manufacturing Marks and workforce development programs showcased Singapore’s vision for a thriving, future-ready manufacturing sector. Industry leaders explored the potential of the Singapore Special Economic Zone (SEC) to drive growth for SMEs, reaffirming Singapore’s ambition to be a global hub for advanced manufacturing by 2030.
