General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman met Singapore’s Defence Minister and Chief of Defence Force, reaffirming the strong ties between the Malaysian and Singapore Armed Forces.

Singapore, 21 January 2025 – Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Chief of Defence Forces, General (GEN) Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman, paid a farewell visit to Singapore from 20 to 21 January 2025, highlighting the enduring defence partnership between the two nations.

During his visit, GEN Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad met Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. Dr Ng expressed his gratitude to the General for his pivotal role in enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and fostering people-to-people ties between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the MAF.

The General also called on Singapore’s Chief of Defence Force, Vice Admiral Aaron Beng, following an inspection of the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. His visit underscores the warm and longstanding relationship between the armed forces of Singapore and Malaysia.

The two countries maintain robust defence ties through regular bilateral and multilateral exercises, visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses. They also collaborate on regional platforms such as the Five Power Defence Arrangements, the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), and ADMM-Plus. These interactions have strengthened mutual understanding and professional bonds between the personnel of the SAF and the MAF.
