New Commands to Strengthen Singapore’s Cyber and Digital Defence

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen officiated the inauguration of the Digital and Intelligence Service’s (DIS) Defence Cyber Command (DCCOM) and SAF C4 & Digitalisation Command (SAFC4DC) this afternoon.
During his speech, Dr Ng emphasized the importance of these new commands in enhancing the Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) digital defence capabilities amid rising cyber threats. He noted that cyber threats have become more frequent and sophisticated, with attackers using artificial intelligence (AI), zero-day exploits, and ransomware to target critical infrastructure across healthcare, energy, and government sectors.
Dr Ng highlighted that the SAF must protect its digital backbone while leveraging digital technologies such as cloud computing, 5G, and AI to enhance its mission effectiveness. He stressed that the DIS will play a crucial role in guiding the SAF in applying the right digital tools for various tasks.

The minister also spoke on the role of Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) in contributing their expertise to the DIS through key advisory and technical positions. He called for continued partnerships between the DIS and the private sector to stay ahead of rapid advancements in cybersecurity and digital technology.
Dr Ng commended the personnel of the newly inaugurated commands and reminded them of their responsibility to safeguard Singapore’s digital defences. As part of the event, he unveiled the new logos of DCCOM and SAFC4DC and engaged with personnel from both commands.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence and the SAF, including Chief of Defence Force Vice-Admiral Aaron Beng and Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) Mr Melvyn Ong, along with government and industry partners, were present at the inauguration.
