Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Nataša Pirc Musar convene business leaders to deepen economic cooperation and boost trade ties.
On 22 May 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar participated in a joint business forum in Ljubljana as part of the Uzbek President’s official visit. The event brought together over 100 executives and representatives from leading industrial and commercial enterprises from both countries, including notable Slovenian companies such as KRKA, Duol, Emo Frite, Panvita, Medex, and Riko.
President Mirziyoyev emphasised that earlier high-level talks had laid a strong foundation for a new era of bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, economic development, and investment. He called for renewed focus on expanding trade flows, setting a target to increase mutual trade volumes to €500 million over the next few years. This ambition includes diversifying trade in areas such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, copper and fertiliser products, and high-tech equipment.

Key sectors highlighted for future collaboration include pharmaceutical localisation, electrical equipment manufacturing, food processing, green energy, and logistics. The use of the Slovenian Port of Koper and the establishment of direct air links between the two countries were identified as strategic enablers for deepening trade and connectivity.
Additionally, the Uzbek President announced the creation of a special industrial park in Uzbekistan aimed at European businesses, offering favourable investment conditions. Slovenian firms were encouraged to become the park’s early tenants.
The forum concluded with the signing and exchange of a series of bilateral trade, economic, and investment agreements in the presence of both Heads of State—underscoring a shared commitment to elevating ties to new heights.
