President Mohamed Muizzu begins official visit from 30 June to 2 July 2025, marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and the Maldives.

Singapore, President of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu, has commenced a State Visit to Singapore from 30 June to 2 July 2025, at the invitation of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. This marks President Muizzu’s first official visit to Singapore since assuming office and coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

President Muizzu will receive a ceremonial where he will call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. In honour of the occasion, President Tharman and Mrs Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam will host a State Banquet for President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, during which both leaders will unveil a commemorative stamp celebrating the milestone in bilateral relations.

The visit will also include high-level meetings with Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong. Both leaders are expected to witness the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) in the areas of capacity building, sustainability, environmental cooperation, and vocational education and training.

President Muizzu’s itinerary features visits to Tuas Port, ITE Central, and the URA Gallery to gain insights into Singapore’s expertise in urban planning, port operations, and education. He will also participate in a High-Level Investment Forum hosted by Invest Maldives. President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha will also visit the National Orchid Garden where a new orchid hybrid, Vanda Mohamed Muizzu Sajidha Mohamed, will be named in their honour.

President Muizzu is accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a delegation comprising comprising nine Cabinet Ministers namely, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon, Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam, Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed, and Minister of Construction Housing and Infrastructure Abdulla Muththalib as well as other government officials.
