
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed were honoured with a named orchid and hosted at a tea during their State Visit to Singapore.
Singapore, His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed were honoured with the naming of a new orchid hybrid during a visit to the National Orchid Garden at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The orchid was officially added to Singapore’s “VIP Orchids” collection, a tradition that celebrates distinguished state visitors.
The naming ceremony was part of the President and the First Lady’s ongoing State Visit to Singapore, held from 29 June to 2 July 2025. During their visit to the Botanic Gardens, the President and First Lady signed the visitors’ book and were given a briefing on the garden’s history and botanical significance.

In a separate engagement, First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed attended a tea reception hosted by Mrs Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, First Lady of the Republic of Singapore. The event took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the ceremonial welcome for the visiting dignitaries.
During the tea, both First Ladies exchanged views on their respective roles and philanthropic efforts.These engagements highlighted the cordial and growing ties between the Maldives and Singapore, underscoring both countries’ commitment to deepening friendship through cultural exchange, diplomacy, and shared traditions.
