Foreign Ministers from ASEAN and its Plus Three partners convened in Malaysia on 10 July 2025 to reaffirm their commitment to deeper regional integration, economic resilience, and sustainable development.
The 26th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was held on 10 July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, chaired by The Honourable Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Malaysia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Meeting brought together Foreign Ministers from ASEAN Member States alongside China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea to review the progress of APT cooperation and chart its future direction.
Ministers welcomed the adoption of ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future, a strategic vision to guide community-building efforts over the next two decades. They emphasised the importance of implementing key regional frameworks, including the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific and the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025, to ensure peace, stability, and prosperity across East Asia.
The Meeting underscored the need for practical cooperation in areas such as trade, finance, food security, energy, and digital transformation. Ministers highlighted initiatives to strengthen regional supply chains, advance green and digital economies, and address transnational challenges including cybercrime and climate change.
In addressing global uncertainties, the Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to an open, rules-based multilateral trading system and pledged to deepen economic integration through mechanisms like the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. They also noted continued collaboration to tackle emerging issues, including ageing populations, health security, disaster management, and gender equality.

The Meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen APT partnership as a key driver for a resilient, innovative, and inclusive region, with ASEAN continuing its role as the driving force of regional community-building. Looking ahead, Ministers discussed preparations for the upcoming 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit scheduled for October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, which will build on the progress made at this year’s Meeting.
