Embassy officials and the Department of Migrant Workers reaffirm commitment to the welfare of Filipino workers during a series of engagements in Singapore.

Philippine Embassy Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Joyleen E. Santos welcomed officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to Singapore, led by Undersecretary for Foreign Employment and Welfare Services, Hon. Felicitas Q. Bay. Undersecretary Bay was joined by Officer-in-Charge Assistant Secretary Atty. Julyn S. Ambito-Fermin, Atty. Joseph Ador A. Ramos of the NCR Adjudication Bureau, MWO-Singapore Labor Attaché Haney Lynn G. Siclot, and OWWA-Singapore Welfare Officer Florencio “Jay” D. Teves III.

The DMW delegation is in Singapore from 22 to 25 July 2025 for a series of official activities focused on enhancing the protection and welfare of Filipino workers. These include a Forum with the Association of Employment Agencies-Singapore (AEAS) and the 2nd Capability Enhancement Training for Welfare Desk Officers of Foreign Recruitment Agencies (WEDOCET), organised by the Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Singapore. Undersecretary Bay is also scheduled to meet with officials from Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

During the meeting, Embassy and DMW officials reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the welfare of Filipino migrant workers in Singapore. CDA Santos assured Undersecretary Bay of the Embassy’s full support for the DMW and MWO-Singapore’s programmes and initiatives. They also discussed strengthening the Philippines’ bilateral relations with Singapore and other ASEAN member states on matters concerning migrant workers.

As a gesture of appreciation, CDA Santos presented Undersecretary Bay with a copy of Making a Mark on the Little Red Dot: Trailblazing Filipino Entrepreneurs in Singapore, a book published by the Embassy in celebration of the 55th anniversary of Philippines–Singapore diplomatic relations in 2024.

Joining CDA Santos were Second Secretary and Consul Atty. Joy Anne B. Lai, Head of the Embassy’s Consular and Assistance-to-Nationals Section, Embassy Administrative Officer Gloria Jean V. Castaño-Zafra.
