The ASEAN Secretariat marked its 58th anniversary celebrations with the launch of electric vehicles and charging stations, highlighting its commitment to clean energy and sustainable operations
As part of the 58th ASEAN Day celebrations, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN, H.E. Lee Jang-keun, today officiated the launch of electric vehicles (EVs) and charging stations at the ASEAN Headquarters in Jakarta.
The initiative forms part of a project funded by the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF) aimed at enhancing the operational capacity of the ASEAN Secretariat through the adoption of clean energy technologies. The transition to EVs reflects ASEAN’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into its institutional operations and reduce its carbon footprint.

The ceremony was also attended by members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, underscoring the strong partnership between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea in advancing environmental sustainability. This collaboration highlights both parties’ shared commitment to greener practices and cleaner energy solutions across the region.
The event adds to the series of inclusive and environmentally conscious activities held to commemorate ASEAN’s 58th anniversary, reflecting the organisation’s vision of a more sustainable and resilient future.
