
Senior officials reaffirm deepening ties under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discuss cooperation in green, digital, and emerging sectors.
Hanoi, 26 August 2025 — Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Albert Chua and Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong co-chaired the 17th Singapore–Vietnam Bilateral Consultations (SVBC) in Hanoi, reaffirming the growing momentum in bilateral relations following the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in March 2025.
Both sides welcomed the strengthening of cooperation across areas such as the green and digital economies, renewable energy, carbon credits, and food security. They also highlighted the value of sustained high-level exchanges this year and expressed anticipation for the upcoming 2nd Annual Leaders’ Meeting in October 2025. Discussions also covered regional and global developments, with both officials agreeing on the importance of upholding ASEAN centrality and unity in fostering a stable and inclusive regional environment.
During his visit, Permanent Secretary Chua also met Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam ASEAN SOM Leader Dang Hoang Giang. The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional issues and to explore ways further to expand cooperation in both existing and emerging fields.
The consultations underscored the shared commitment of Singapore and Vietnam to strengthening bilateral collaboration while working closely within ASEAN and on international platforms.
